When we honour the past, we energise our future-and the present becomes a celebration-a celebration of history and biography, of human endurance and divine grace.
Almost 200 years ago the Congregation of The Brothers of Saint Patrick was established by our founder-Bishop Daniel Delaney on 2nd February 1808, in Ireland.
Our Bicentennial Celebrations commence on 2nd February 2008, in all our Patrician Brother Schools-both in India and abroad.
The year long celebrations will showcase both the service and sacrifice as well as the phenomenal achievements of the Patrician Community in Asia, Europe, North America, Australia and Africa.
It was on 2nd February 1808 that Bishop Daniel Delaney the ‘man of courage’, who established a community of men, in the service of god, under the patronage of Saint Patrick’s ideals. The four pioneering Brothers were Brother John Baptist, Brother John Evangelist, Brother Bernard and Brother Joseph. The patrician ethos is enshrined in the mission statement that ‘promises to carry forward the educational initiatives of the founding fathers with compassion and action for justice.’
Prayer, Faith, Patience, Unfailing Courage and Gentleness in the face of hardships-were and are the hallmark of this rich legacy.
Reflection:
“Do everything in a spirit of holy love and you will not find your hands empty at the journey’s end.”-Bishop Daniel Delaney
Dear Ex-Marians,
Greetings from your Almamater,
The Patrician Brothers Congregation celebrates its Bicentenary from 2nd Feb 2008 to 2nd Feb 2009. We, at Mount St. Mary’s are in the process of compiling our archives, a memory bank of reminiscences.
You are requested to spare a few moments to write to us about your most significant recall of school life. Please remember to mention milestones in the growth of this institution.
Your response would be a valuable input in scripting for various celebratory functions. Do respond, latest by February end. Please mention the year of passing out alongside your name looking forward to hearing from you all out there.
